Nordea named amongst the world best trade finance providers by Global Finance
Nordea’s Trade Finance team has made a strong start to 2021 with multiple wins at the Global Finance Trade & Supply Chain Finance awards. Nordea was named the Best Trade Finance Provider 2021 in Denmark, Finland and Norway.
Organised by Global Finance magazine, the awards are now in their 21st year and seek to shine a spotlight on the leading trade finance providers around the world.
In this year’s awards, the editorial review board of Global Finance selected the best trade finance providers based on entries from banks and other providers, as well as input from industry analysts, corporate executives and technology experts. The criteria for choosing the winners included: transaction volumes, scope of global coverage, customer service, competitive pricing and innovative technologies.
Recognition of a challenging year
Patrik Zekkar, Head of Trade Finance & Working Capital Management at Nordea, says: “I am delighted to see that our trade teams have received this recognition from Global Finance. 2020 was of course an extraordinary year, throwing up all sorts of obstacles for both our customers and ourselves as we worked hard to overcome challenges and keep trade and daily business moving."
"Throughout the year, we saw a super charged effort from everyone involved in making sure things stayed running as normal. We were on hand to reach out and advise companies, municipalities and national authorities, keeping them updated on changes taking place around the world and finding the right solutions to meet their needs. We are really looking forward to an exciting 2021 where our main goal will be to support recovery and growth by moving in tandem with our customers. These awards from Global Finance are a fantastic way to start the year!” adds Patrik.
Adapting to challenges
Joseph D. Giarraputo, Publisher and Editorial Director of Global Finance, says: “The Trade Finance sector was hit particularly hard by the fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic, and providers were forced to respond and adapt to the unforeseen challenges it presented. The winners of our annual Trade Finance awards are institutions that responded to the unprecedented landscape of 2020 with new technologies and improved capabilities that helped their clients succeed.”
